The Mid-Atlantic Women’s Tennis Championships Kick Off July 23

The Washington, DC area will debut a WTA International Level tournament sponsored by Lagardère Unlimited – the Mid-Atlantic Women’s Tennis Championships to be held at The Tennis Center at College Park. The tournament which runs from July 23-31 will feature 32 main draw singles players and 16 doubles teams.

Players schedule to participate include top-15 ranked Shahar Peer, Lucie Safarova, Melanie Oudin, Jelena Dokic; and up-and-coming American teenager, Sloane Stephens.  Peer noted “I’ve been playing really great tennis this year and am excited to bring my game to a new market known for its dedicated tennis fan base.”

Single session seats range from $10 to $65, depending on session and seat location.
Ticket packages for all ten sessions start at $155 for Grandstand Reserved Seats on Stadium Court.
Premium Box Seats start at $450.
Flexible ticket packages starting at $80 for three sessions.

ABOUT THE PLAYERS
The tournament has five player commitments to-date .Shahar Peer, the tournament’s top ranked player currently has a ranking of number 14 in the world. She has won a total of five WTA singles titles, including the 2009 Guangzhou title, in addition to finishing as the runner-up at two events. She has also served on the Israeli Fed Cup Team for eight consecutive years and the 2008 Israeli Olympic Team. http://twitter.com/shaharpeer

Lucie Safarova, currently ranked number 32 in the world and throughout her career, she has won a total of four WTA singles titles, in addition to finishing as the runner-up in five tournaments, including most recently in the 2011 Kuala Lumpur event. Jelena Dokic, currently ranked number 62 in the world and holds a total of six WTA singles titles, including her most recent win in Kuala Lumpur this year, four WTA doubles titles, in addition to finishing as the runner-up for seven singles events. Melanie Oudin, a Marietta, GA native currently ranked number 89 in the world, who received the WTA Newcomer of the Year Award in 2009. Sloane Stephens, a Ft. Lauderdale, FL native currently ranked number 150 in the world. Stephens had a breakthrough year on the ITF Junior Circuit in 2008.
