US Open Men’s Wildcards Include Hewitt, Ginepri, Young

The USTA  has announced the 2011 US Open Men’s Wildcards. They include 2001 US Open champion Lleyton Hewitt of Australia, former US Open semifinalist Robby Ginepri, Ryan Harrison, current NCAA champion Steve Johnson, USTA Boys’ 18s champion Jack Sock, Donald Young, and Franc

One more wildcard will be awarded to the winner of the 2011 US Open Wild Card Playoff, an eight-player invitational tournament held by USTA Player Development at the Junior Tennis Champions Center, a USTA Certified Regional Training Center in College Park, Md.

The 2011 US Open will be played August 29 – September 11 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

Both the men’s and women’s US Open singles champions will win $1.8 million in prize money with the ability to earn an additional $1 million in bonus prize money (for a total potential payout of $2.8 million) based on their performance in the 2011 Olympus US Open Series.
