(July 13, 2013) Maria Sharapova who recently parted ways with her coach Thomas Hogstedt with whom she had worked with for three years, has hired tennis Hall of Famer Jimmy Connors. Jimmy Connors, who is 60 won 8 major titles including five U.S. Opens. He is a former coach of Andy Roddick, who retired from tennis last year.
Sharapova made the following statement on her website:
I am happy to announce that Jimmy Connors will be my new coach. I have known Jimmy for many years and we briefly worked together in 2008 just before the Australian Open. I am really excited about our new partnership and looking forward to the upcoming tournaments.
