(January 14, 2014) In her first WTA final, Spanish qualifier Garbiñe Muguruza made quick work of Czech Klara Zakopalova 6-4, 6-0 in 70 minutes to win her first WTA title at the Hobart International on Saturday.

It’s the second straight day that a qualifier has won their first title. On Friday, Tsvetana Pironkova won the Sydney International. (Qualifier Tsvetana Pironkova Wins Sydney Title)

“I can’t explain in words how happy I feel,” Muguruza said during the trophy ceremony. “Last year I was injured for six months and it’s amazing to be here.”

“I didn’t expect to win a lot of matches in the second tournament of the year, but I knew that I’d just worked so hard before,” she said. “When I was at home I was thinking to myself, ‘If I go to the tournament I’m going to fight so much,’ and that’s what I did. I was like a big bull out there.”

The Spaniard went through the tournament without dropping a set.
