(February 13, 2014) White Plains, NY – The Junior Tennis Foundation will honor four Eastern tennis leaders on April 25, 2014 during its 27th annual Eastern Tennis Hall of Fame celebration at the Beach Point Club in Mamaroneck, NY.
The 2014 inductees into the Eastern Hall of Fame are: Tim Mayotte, a high performance coach for juniors, a former NCAA singles champion and ATP world number seven player in the 1980s; Mike Silverman, the Director of Sports for the City Parks Foundation and a certified Level 1 USPTR tennis teaching professional; Richard Walther, a longtime coach and community tennis pioneer in New Jersey still tirelessly promoting the game in his 90s; and Marilyn Aschner, a legendary Eastern player from Queens, NY who held a top ranking both nationally and professionally in the 1960s.
Proceeds from the awards celebration and induction ceremony benefit the Junior Tennis Foundation, which provides scholarships for junior players throughout the section. Additionally, two juniors will receive David N. Dinkins Scholarship Awards to attend tennis summer camps.
“Over the past 27 years, the Junior Tennis Foundation has created numerous opportunities for future generations of Eastern tennis players,” said Bob Ingersole, the president of the Junior Tennis Foundation. “At our Hall of Fame celebration this year, we are thrilled to recognize four outstanding and passionate individuals who have shaped our section’s commitment to youth tennis.”

Since its creation in 1979, the Junior Tennis Foundation has offered more than $2 million in grants to juniors in the Eastern section.
