(May 25, 2014) No. 4 seed Roger Federer playing in his 58th straight Grand Slam event, opened his campaign for a second Roland Garros title with a 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 dismissing of Slovakia’s Lukas Lacko, ranked No. 87 in the world.
Federer, the 2009 French Open Champion is now 59-14 at Roland Garros equaling the number of wins by Rafael Nadal who at 59-1 in Paris, holds the record.
This is the Swiss’ first win as a father of four. “I’m happy the family is here,” Federer said.
His new set of twins, Leo and Lenny were born less than three weeks ago, while his older set of twins, Myla and Charlene with mother Mirka, were on court Philipe Chatrier watching dad in action for about 20 minutes.
Federer’s opponent in the second round will be qualifier Diego Sebastian Schwartzman of Argentina.
