Cerritos, Calif. – (June 10, 2014) – College tennis coaches and junior tennis players can now register for the first-ever College Tennis Combine which will take place July 5-6, 2014 at the Cerritos Tennis Center, 19700 Bloomfield Ave., Cerritos, CA 90703.
The weekend event will allow numerous college tennis coaches the opportunity to evaluate junior tennis players up-close as attendees take part in fitness tests and on-court match play to showcase their skills and talents in a competitive setting.
“We are very excited to bring this unique event to Southern California for the first time,” said Bram Sada, manager of Cerritos Tennis Center. “The College Tennis Combine is the perfect setting for college coaches to get an in-depth look at potential players for their team. It is also beneficial for players who are looking to play collegiate tennis at the Division I, Division II or Division III levels.”
According to Sada, there has never been an event such as the College Tennis Combine that measure the various physical fitness skills college tennis coaches look for in their recruits. “This is an event that can change the landscape of college tennis recruiting in the future,” Sada said.
The College Tennis Combine is open to U.S. and international players ages 14-18 who want to display their level of skill and fitness to college coaches. Participants will include many USTA ranked junior players as well as International Tennis Federation junior players.
Day One (Saturday, July 5) of the College Tennis Combine will be dedicated to Comprehensive Fitness Testing with more than ten stations featuring various performance fitness tests such as 20/40 Meter Sprints, Lane Agility Drill, Standing Long Jump and Side Arm Medicine Ball Throw.
On Day Two (Sunday, July 6), players will participate in extensive on-court point play against multiple opponents as college coaches move between courts to observe players.
The registration fee for junior players is $350. The registration deadline is Monday, June 30.
