(AUGUST 24, 2016) NEW YORK – Just in time for the 2016 US Open Tennis Championships swinging underway Monday, August 29th, new mobile application platform VDROP (http://vdrop.com/) is teaming up with world premier food and tennis event Taste of Tennis (http://www.tasteoftennis.com/) along with their celebrity chefs and US Open tennis stars to launch an entertaining social media crowdfunding campaign that will benefit Wellness in the Schools (WITS) (http://www.wellnessintheschools.org/), a national non-profit that inspires healthy eating and fitness for kids in public schools.
Through a series of high-profile challenges taking place on VDROP this week, Wellness in the Schools’ celebrity chef partners are sending top US Open players video challenges through VDROP (and then sharing them on their social media channels) where fans can engage with the content and crowdfund each challenge they want to see completed in order to raise money for Wellness in the Schools.
All of the proceeds from the campaign will go to Wellness in the Schools (WITS), a beneficiary of the Taste of Tennis. WITS’ celebrity chef partners, Jonathan Waxman and Seamus Mullen, will unite with Australian tennis star Sam Groth and Carina Witthoeft of Germany in New York City this Thursday August 25th for live cooking demonstrations to complete the video challenges for fans.
“Our partnership with Taste of Tennis and VDROP is an incredible opportunity to raise awareness of our work to drive systemic, long-term change in schools, fighting the childhood obesity epidemic,” said Executive Chef Bill Telepan of Wellness in the Schools. “The event raises vital funds to help us expand and bring healthy eating and fitness to more kids across the country.”
A revolutionary platform changing the way a growing community of celebrities, athletes and artists interact with their fans, VDROP is giving fans the ability to send them a personal, one-on-one video request of anything they want to see them to do along with a financial offer for it. VDROP is the first mobile application solution to monetize the social media relationship between celebrities, professional athletes and their fans in a fun, meaningful and emotional way.
“From day one we have been driven to create a more meaningful experience for fans and their heroes,” said Mark John, Founder of VDROP. “This partnership with Wellness in the Schools is so exciting for us as we get to create intimate connections with some of the world’s great tennis players and their fans whilst serving those in need.”
Through public-private partnerships, Wellness in the Schools (WITS) is fighting the obesity epidemic by empowering schools to provide healthy, scratch-cooked meals, active recess periods, and fitness and nutrition education. In partnership with local departments of education, WITS programs serve more than 50,000 children in 100 U.S. schools. For more information on WITS, visit www.wellnessintheschools.org/.
