(August 21, 2013) NEW YORK -There may be no player-sponsor relationship more synonymous with tradition and excellence than the dignified Roger Federer and the refined Moët & Chandon. Federer joined the champagne producer in celebrating its 270th anniversary Tuesday evening in New York City, an event pulsating in the grandeur and elegance you would expect from such a tandem.
With champagne flowing and golden glasses glistening from the opulence of the occasion, the lights dimmed and Federer emerged in a theatrically-staged moment akin to a Michael Jackson performance.
“This is really exciting and I’m very proud to be the face of this great brand,” Federer said. “Maybe if you all drink a glass of Moët every day we’ll all get to 270 years.”
“We couldn’t be more pleased to be in New York City to mark Moët & Chandon’s 270th anniversary and to celebrate alongside our brand ambassador Roger Federer, with whom we introduce this stunning new campaign,” said Stéphane Baschiera, President and CEO of Moët & Chandon.
Celebrities and international fashion icons, including Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour and actors Jeffrey Wright, Josh Lucas and Katrina Bowden came to Chelsea Piers to join in the festivities. World-renowned DJ Bob Sinclar and singer Emeli Sandé provided the entertainment. Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli and countryman Julien Benneteau were also on hand.
Federer, who will be vying for his sixth US Open crown next week, is the Global Brand Ambassador for Moët & Chandon. He signed a $50 million, five-year deal with the company last November.
