MIAMI OPEN PLAYER FIELD ANNOUNCED |

(February 7, 2018) Miami, FL – Twenty-time major champion Roger Federer and 23-time major winner Serena Williams, are set to play the 2018 Miami Open as it bids farewell to the Crandon Park Tennis Center on Key Biscayne March 19-April 1.
In the final event on Key Biscayne prior to moving to a state-of-the-art facility at Hard Rock Stadium in 2019, the Miami Open’s 2018 official acceptance lists include 78 of the top 79 ranked men and 75 of the top 76 ranked women. The player field features a combined 17 major singles champions including Federer, who claimed his 20th major title at this year’s Australian Open, and Caroline Wozniacki who regained the World No. 1 ranking following her first Grand Slam title in Melbourne. Serena Williams, who has won a record eight Miami Open singles titles, was granted a wildcard into the 2018 tournament. Following her Open Era record 23rd career major title at the 2017 Australian Open, Williams missed the remainder of the season while preparing for the birth of her daughter. The 2018 ATP acceptance list features World No. 1 and 16-time major champion Rafael Nadal, 12-time major winner and six-time Miami Open winner Novak Djokovic, three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka, and former US Open champions Juan Martin del Potro and Marin Cilic. Cilic is coming off a finals appearance at this year’s Australian Open. In addition, the player field boasts the next generation of ATP stars including Australian Open semifinalists Kyle Edmund and Hyeon Chung, along with World No. 5 Alexander Zverev and Nick Kyrgios. Qualifying rounds will be March 19-20 and will determine 12 additional slots in each singles draw. The Miami Open will also award wildcards to five men and eight women. The women’s main draw begins on Tuesday, March 20, followed by the first round of the men’s main draw on Wednesday, March 21.
