Chinese Tennis Star Shuai Zhang Completes Final Line-Up for First Tie Break Tens Competition in the United States, Joining Williams Sisters and Other Top Players
Eight Elite Players to Compete for $250,000 Winner’s Prize at
New York’s Madison Square Garden on March 5
LONDON, Feb. 26, 2018 – Tie Break Tens, the new fast-paced, short-form tennis competition, is excited to reveal that Chinese tennis star Shuai Zhang will compete at its inaugural tournament in the United States at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Monday, March 5, 2018. Shuai completes the line-up of elite athletes that includes Serena and Venus Williams, Elina Svitolina, Marion Bartoli, CoCo Vandeweghe, Sorana Cirstea, and Daniela Hantuchová.
Tie Break Tens tournaments are held over one day and involve eight players competing in a knock-out format, with each match consisting of a super tie-break to ten points. Following successful tournaments in London, Vienna, Madrid and Melbourne, the Tie Break Tens all-women event will feature the tour’s top players competing for the $250,000 winner’s prize and the opportunity to raise a trophy at the iconic venue.
Shuai Zhang is currently ranked No. 34 in the world, and is the second highest ranked female Chinese singles player. During the 2017 season, she won her second WTA singles title at the Guangzhou Open. She also excels at doubles, with four titles to her name.
