Amelie Mauresmo to Succeed Yannick Noah as French Davis Cup Captain
(June 23, 2018) Former No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo will become the first woman to captain France’s Davis Cup team when she takes over from Yannick Noah next year.
“I’m obviously very proud of the trust put in me,” said Mauresmo in a news conference.
The 38-year-old Frenchwoman is a two-time major winner, a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, was a former Fed Cup Captain for France, and also coached former men’s No. 1 Andy Murray. She resigned from the Fed cup captaincy in 2016, when she was expecting her second child.
Mauresmo signed a two-year contract with the French Tennis Federation.
