(July 29, 2018) Nikoloz Basilashvili rallied from 3-5 in the third set of his final-round qualifying match in Hamburg just last Sunday. This Sunday, the qualifier became the first player from the country of Georgia to win an ATP World Tour title when he defeated two-time Hamburg titlist Leonardo Mayer 6-4, 0-6, 7-5.
“It means everything [to me],” Basilashvili said of winning his first title. “To be the first player [from Georgia] to win an ATP [World Tour] title also means something unbelievably special. But in general, to win an ATP title, it takes a lot of effort, especially to win at the 500-level, and I’m extremely happy about this.”

In Gstaad, Matteo Berrettini of Italy beat Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut 7-6 (9), 6-4 to win the Swiss Open, his first ATP World Tour title.
“It was a really tough match. From the beginning until the end it was really tough to break him,” said the winner.
“I served really good most of the day and it was an unbelievable tie-break,” said Berrettini. “If I lost the tie-break, I think the match would have been really tough. I was lucky I did a really good job in the tie-break and I was focused in the second set.”
The 22-year-old is the youngest Italian finalist since 2003.
For Bautista Agut, he’s on the road back from a hip injury in Halle semifinals, which prevented him from playing Wimbledon.
Berrettini, making his Gstaad debut, won all of his matches during the tournament in straight sets and never lost serve.
He was adouble winner on Sundya also winning the doubles title with Bracciali.
