(August 4, 2018) In a final played between qualifiers, Martin Klizan won the Kitzbuhel title, defeating Denis Istomin 6-2, 6-2. This was just the second all-qualifier final on the ATP World Tour. With the Generali Open crown, the Slovak is a perfect 6-0 in singles finals. He’s also perfect in doubles finals at 4-0.
“Sometimes in the finals I was lucky, sometimes it was hard work and sometimes I was better on court,” Kilzan said. “You never know what is going to happen. I am just happy to have that kind of statistic, winning six titles from six finals. In doubles, I have four titles from four finals. It is very good and I am very proud.”
