FILA Hosts Junior Tennis Clinic and Q&A with Marin Cilic in Toronto at Rogers Cup
HEAD Tennis Gifts Backpacks to Clinic Participants
FILA sponsored athlete, Marin Cilic, participated in a youth tennis-focused Q&A session in Toronto at Rogers Cup, presented by National Bank. The event was immediately followed by a junior tennis clinic and meet and greet for Toronto-area junior players. This series of special youth tennis events took place on Sunday, August 5, as a part of the 407 ETR Free Community Weekend.
World No. 7 Cilic took the main stage and answered questions from the audience. The Q&A session with Cilic focused on junior tennis and getting started in the pros. Audience members also had the opportunity to win prizes from FILA and HEAD.
At the conclusion of the Q&A, Cilic moved on to a practice court, where he lead a mini skills clinic with young Toronto-area tennis lovers and enthusiasts. The participants, who came from various tennis programs around the city, were outfitted in FILA x Tennis Canada tees and hats, and gifted backpacks by HEAD. After playing a few tennis games and running drills with the participants, Cilic posed for photos and signed autographs.
“Marin is not only a truly talented athlete but an exceedingly thoughtful person,” said FILA Director of Marketing, Lauren Mallon. “At FILA we believe in respecting the heritage and tradition of the sport while also inspiring future athletes, as is demonstrated by our Junior Program. Marin is a great role model and inspiration for these young tennis players.”
Cilic, who is sponsored by both brands, enjoyed a successful juniors career, winning the French Open boys singles title in 2005, before turning pro. More recently he won the 2014 US Open and was in the finals of the 2018 Australian Open as well as 2017 Wimbledon.
