(Correspondent Mary Carillo at Wimbledon with Mansour Bahrami.)
*The Court Jester. Mansour Bahrami grew up in Iran, the son of a poor gardener at a local sports complex, but was forbidden to play tennis because he was a member of society’s lower class. His love for the game led him to flee Iran for France, where he was broke, homeless and without proper immigration papers. Undeterred, Bahrami spent his days at the hallowed grounds of Roland Garros and eventually found moderate success playing doubles, becoming known for his exuberant showmanship and charismatic personality. REAL SPORTS correspondent Mary Carillo met the 62-year-old Mansour Bahrami at this year’s Wimbledon, when he became the oldest player ever to compete at the tournament.
