Lacoste Celebrates Tennis Champion Novak Djokovic At Macy’s Herald Square
New York, NY –August 23, 2018– LACOSTE welcomed Novak Djokovic to the LACOSTE boutique at Macy’s Herald Square to celebrate the launch of LACOSTE’s new Fall/Winter 2018 Novak Djokovic collection last night. Excited fans lined up to meet Djokovic and have their pictures taken with the tennis legend. Djokovic also spent time with kids from the CityParks’ Foundation tennis academy, who won the chance to meet him by writing essays about a time they faced adversity in their lives. Additionally, guests were able to experience 85 years of LACOSTE through a virtual reality experience featuring founder René Lacoste’s design studio and key milestones in the brand’s history.
This marks Djokovic’s first U.S. appearance on behalf of LACOSTE. In 2017, Novak Djokovic was named LACOSTE’s new crocodile and now represents the brand both on and off the court.
In 1933, tennis player and inventor René Lacoste, nicknamed the Crocodile for the tenacity he displayed on the court, revolutionized the fashion world by creating the LACOSTE L.12.12 polo shirt. Djokovic’s relaxed elegance and inventiveness are the perfect match for the French brand’s DNA and sports-inspired creations. The two tennis champions share the same values of fair play, tenacity and style.
