Babolat Debuts New Pure Aero Developed with Rafael Nadal for Increased Control and Feel
THE NEW BABOLAT PURE AERO: LEGENDARY SPIN & POWER,
INCREASED CONTROL & FEEL
Babolat (www.babolat.com) – world leader in racket sports – officially debuts the newest generation of its celebrated Aero rackets, the Pure Aero. Developed with Rafael Nadal, the newest iteration confirms the Pure Aero as the racket of reference for spin. For Babolat like any tennis player, tennis is a lot more than just winning. It’s about striving to improve, challenging others, and always getting better by being fueled by fight. The new Pure Aero channels this very same spirit: Babolat took a successful racket, dared to enhance it, and raised the overall performance by increasing control and feel.
REFLECTING THE EVOLUTION OF THE MODERN GAME
Since the launch of the first Aero racket in 2005, Babolat has continued to improve its aerodynamic concept through a series of innovations bringing increased power and spin that have made this racket so successful with a total of 19 Grand Slam wins. Now with added stability and feel that today’s players demand, the new Pure Aero ushers in the next chapter of Babolat’s success story.
To appreciate the step forward the Pure Aero represents, it’s important to understand the evolution of the modern game, and especially the use of spin by today’s players. Alex Israel, tennis category manager explains, “Spin has become essential in tennis. Originally used as a defensive tactic to wear out an opponent, players now apply spin as an offensive move to create an advantage within the point. And as the game becomes faster, they are now looking for more precision.”
In developing the optimal spin-friendly innovation, Babolat asked 3500+ testers worldwide an important question: Which racket benefits on a Pure Aero frame are most important to you? As expected, players overwhelmingly rated spin and power as essential, but, for the first time, ranked control and feel as a top priority as well. The objective for the new Pure Aero was clear.
REDEFINING PERFORMANCE
To achieve ultimate spin with great power, while increasing control and feel, Babolat engineers sought experts in the aerospace industry: new partner Chomarat, specialist in composite materials; and SMAC, the company responsible for the Cortex Pure Feel technology found in the latest Babolat Pure Drive.
EXTRAORDINARY STABILITY AND INCREDIBLE FEEL
With Chomarat, Babolat engineers developed an innovative solution to maximize stability in the racket. Carbon Ply Stabilizer is a new generation of woven and sewn carbon fibers integrated in the throat of the racket to give the new Pure Aero extraordinary stability. This carbon is more rigid, bringing more stability at impact, which increases control.
A collaboration with SMAC, the Cortex Pure Feel innovation in the new Pure Aero is located at 3/9 o’clock in the racket head to deliver increased dampening to optimize vibration filtering for improved feel. The new material integrated in the graphite of the racket contributes to the incredible feel and also increases control.
Finally, the thrilling, cutting edge design of the new Babolat Pure Aero makes a bold statement. The frame’s bright “Taipan yellow” color was inspired by the highly venomous Taipan snake native to Australia. Combined with the sporty metallic finish and aerodynamic font, the new Pure Aero stands out on court.
For the new Pure Aero, the brand retained key Aero innovations that deliver power and faster racket head speed.
ULTIMATE SPIN AND MAXIMUM POWER
With FSI Spin Technology, the new Pure Aero maintains the same open string pattern as its predecessor, delivering ultimate spin. Oblong-shaped spin grommets at 6/12 o’clock widens spacing between cross strings for greater “string snapback”, creating more spin. With longer contact time between the ball and the string, the Woofer System offers maximum spin with great feel, enhanced control and increased comfort.
The aerodynamic frame design, long associated with the Aero line, integrates the bumpers and grommets in an optimized design. The Aeromodular3 frame reduces drag and enables the racket head to move faster through the air, increasing ball speed and enhancing spin.

Rafael Nadal and the Team Babolat players will switch to the new Pure Aero in the coming months.
