LA JOLLA, Calif. – (February 27, 2019) – Tournament officials have announced the top seeds for the 130th Annual Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship, which will be played Thursday, February 28 through Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, 2000 Spindrift Dr., La Jolla, CA 92037.

Brandon Holt and Riley Smith of USC, along with Johannes (Rikus) de Villiers and Govind Nanda of UCLA, are the tournament’s co-No. 1 seeds. Defending tournament champions Jack Jaede and Laurens Verboven of USC are seeded third.

Holt and Smith, both juniors at USC, were the No. 2 ranked collegiate doubles team in the nation last fall. Nanda, a freshman at UCLA, reached the doubles final at the 2018 United States Tennis Association Boys’ 18s National Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich. De Villiers is currently a UCLA men’s tennis assistant coach.

Holt and Smith received a first-round bye and will play their second-round match at 11 a.m. on Friday against the winner of a first-round match between Marc Isaia and Sreeganesh Manoharan of UCSD and Santiago Montufar and William Tutecky of Boston College.

Nanda and de Villiers also received a first-round bye and will play a second-round match at 1:15 p.m. on Friday against the winner of a first-round match between Adriano Barilla and Max MacKinnon of Boston College and the independent team of Carson Kellogg of San Diego and Sam Rudenberg of La Jolla.

“There will be several first-round matches played on Thursday evening with the majority of first-round matches taking place on Friday morning,” said Tournament Director Bill Kellogg. “We are anticipating another exciting tournament this year and invite spectators to come and watch the competition.”
