Oracle Challenger Series New Haven Results
(September 6, 2019) On a chilly and blustery day at the Yale Tennis Center, five Americans played their way to a Saturday semifinal spot. On the women’s side, No. 3 Lauren Davis outlasted No. 5 seed Pauline Parmentier in a tricky 6-3, 6-4 victory, while No. 7 seed Anna Blinkova rolled through the second-seeded Jennifer Brady 6-2, 6-1 in a match that took just over an hour to complete. Meanwhile, the unseeded Usue Maitane Arconada upset Australia’s Astra Sharma in straight sets 6-4, 6-4; and former British No. 1 Heather Watson eliminated American Danielle Lao 7-6(4), 6-4.
Three American men will vie for a finals berth on Saturday, as unseeded Noah Rubin upset No. 1 seed Andreas Seppi to advance to a semifinal match-up against No. 6 seed Tommy Paul. Paul defeated countryman Bradley Klahn 6-4, 6-4 in Friday’s quarterfinal match. No. 3 seed Damir Dzumhur will face off against American No. 9 seed Marcos Giron in the other semifinal match-up.
In addition to the singles semifinals, Saturday’s action will also feature the men’s and women’s doubles finals.
