Team Europe defeats the World to Three-peat at Laver Cup
(September 22, 2019) Team Europe has won the Laver Cup in Geneva, hoisting the trophy for the third consecutive year in the stunning teams competition.
Alexander Zverev won the deciding point 6-4 3-6 10-4 in a thrilling final match against Team World’s Milos Raonic, with his teammates cheering and coaching him from the sidelines, in what has become a hallmark of the event.
Europe, led by Captain Bjorn Borg, has now won all three editions of the Laver Cup.
The dramatic final day of competition saw Jack Sock and John Isner defeat Roger Federer and Stefanos Tsitsipas in doubles, before Taylor Fritz defeated Dominic Thiem to give World an 11-7 lead.
Federer brought Europe back into contention with a straight-sets win over Isner, setting up a winner-take-all showdown between Zverev and Raonic. Read more here.
During the trophy presentation it was revealed Boston will host the fourth edition of the Laver Cup from September 25-27, 2020.

- The fastest serve was hit by Team World’s Taylor Fritz during his match against Dominic Thiem, registering a serve-speed of 234 km/h

Palexpo build
- 1000 tons of material and 400,000 individual parts were used to build the arena and the surrounding area at Palexpo
- A workforce of 50 people took 7,000 hours over two weeks to build the arena, Fan Zone and back of house areas
- The Laver Cup footprint at Palexpo was 99,800 square meters, including the 17,209 seat arena, Fan Zone, hospitality areas, broadcast and back-of-house
- 35,000 m2 of carpet was laid across the venue
- 1 km of curtains were draped throughout Palexpo
- 2 km of movable walls created hospitality spaces, media and broadcast studios and workrooms and offices
- 5 km aluminum was used to construct the ceiling throughout Palexpo
Ticketing
- Fans from 82 countries attended the Laver Cup, with 54% from Switzerland, 80% from within Europe and 20% from the rest of the world

- 126 print and radio media and 42 photographers from 23 countries reported on the Laver Cup onsite at Palexpo
Broadcast
- Laver Cup was broadcast to more than 210 territories
- More than 7000 hours broadcast on TV (90% LIVE) and 9000 hours online
- 80 personnel from six broadcasters including TV24, Leman Bleu, Eurosport, TVA, France TV and RTS were on site to cover the Laver Cup
Host broadcast
- Tennis Australia produced the Laver Cup Host Broadcast for a third consecutive year
- Twelve live matches were captured by more than 50 cameras, including 23 robotic cameras, spidercam, two net cams, rail cam and six RF cameras
- 144 crew and TV talent from around the world helped produce the broadcast
- 23.4 km of cable was laid and 165 monitors were used throughout the venue
