Teams Set for Fed Cup Finals in Budapest

 

ITF (February 9, 2020) The full line-up of teams competing at the inaugural Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals in Budapest, Hungary on 14-19 April has been confirmed following the conclusion of the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Qualifiers.

 

Belarus, Belgium, Germany, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and USA will join 2019 finalists France and Australia, wild card Czech Republic and host nation Hungary, bidding to be crowned world champions in Budapest.

 

The draw will be made in Budapest at 6.30pm CET on Tuesday 11 February and will be livestreamed on FedCup.com. The 12 nations will compete in four groups of three teams, with the four group winners contesting the semifinals before the final on Sunday 19 April.

 

Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Netherlands and Romania will compete in the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas play-offs in April against advancing nations from the regional Group I events.

Argentina, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Serbia and Ukraine all booked their place in the Fed Cup play-offs this week while the final two nations will be decided at the re-scheduled Asia/Oceania Group I event, on 3-7 March, in Dubai.

 

The draw for the Fed Cup play-offs will also take place on Tuesday 11 February, livestreamed on FedCup.com at 11am GMT. The losing nations from the Fed Cup Qualifiers will each be drawn against an advancing nation from Group I, with 2 spaces for the nations advancing from Asia/Oceania Group I.
