
Kiki Bertens Defends St. Petersburg Title
(February 16, 2020) Second seed Kiki Bertens defeated 8th seed Elena Rybakina 6-1, 6-3 to defend the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy on Sunday in 75 minutes. For the Dutchwoman, it’s her tenth title on the WTA tour. It’s the first title of the year for Bertens.
the victory for Bertens ended her three finals losing streak. Bertens last held up the winner’s trophy back in May when she defeated Simona Halep in Madrid in May. this is the second title that she’s she’s defended in her career. She last did it in Nuremburg in 2017.
The runner-up Rybakina will make her debut in the Top 20 on Monday. This was her third final out of four events played in 2020.
