Results – Oracle Challenger Series Indian Wells

(March 6, 2020) The Road to Indian Wells has confirmed its final wild card into the BNP Paribas Open. Mitchell Krueger is through to the semifinals of the Oracle Challenger Series Indian Wells and has earned his spot in the main draw of next week’s event. The American played all four Oracle Challenger Series events this season, reaching the semifinals in Houston and Newport Beach, as well.

The singles quarterfinals on the men’s side saw Americans advance to set up scintillating semifinal Saturday. A resurgent Jack Sock battled past Denis Kudla to set up a match against teenager Brandon Nakashima, who beat Oracle Challenger Series wild card recipient Marcos Giron. The other semifinal will see Krueger, who eliminated the last international competitor in Gregoire Barrere, take on USC Trojan Steve Johnson, who took out Noah Rubin.

The women’s side is a different story with top international talent battling through. Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu defeated Jessica Pegula, the last American in the draw, and will face Ukraine?s Lesia Tsurenko in the first match of the day. The other semifinal features 2009 BNP Paribas Open champion Vera Zvonareva from Russia and Japan?s Misaki Doi.

Saturday also features the doubles finals between all-American teams. On the women’s side, Catherine McNally and Jessica Pegula will play Asia Muhammad and Taylor Townsend. For the men, Sebastian Korda and Mitchell Krueger will take on Denis Kudla and Thai-Son Kwiatkowski.

Play begins at 10 am on Saturday, with singles semifinals on Stadium 5 and doubles finals on Court 16 at 12noon.
