
Defending Champion Bianca Andreescu withdraws from US Open
(August 13, 2020) Defending champion, Canadian Bianca Andreescu will not play the US Open. The 20-year-old made the announcement on social media:

Earlier in the week, 2004 US Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia also announced that she would not play the major.

France’s Fiona Ferro has also withdrawn from the 2020 US Open. Caroline Dolehide of the US moves into the main draw, while Claire Liu will receive the wild card previously awarded to Dolehide.
