(August 26, 2020) The USTA, ATP Tour, and WTA and the Western & Southern Open have issued a pause in play. This pause apparently initiated by No. 10 Naomi Osaka‘s plan to sit out her semifinal in protest of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin.

The USTA, ATP Tour, and WTA have decided to recognize this moment in time by pausing tournament play at the Western & Southern Open on Thursday, August 27. Play will resume on Friday, August 28. |
