For the No. 119th-ranked Korda, it was the American’s first ATP Tour final.
The 20-year-old son of former pro Petr Korda powered through a list of Top 100 players to reach the final – No. 95 Soonwoo Kwon, No. 52 Tommy Paul, No. 25 John Isner and No. 74 Cameron Norrie.
“It feels great,” the world No. 35 Hurkacz said. “It’s the beginning of the season and I still need to work on a couple of things, but I hope I can play even better in Australia.”
“The way [Sebastiean Korda] is playing, it will be amazing what he can achieve in the future,” Hurkacz said. “It’s too bad that he wasn’t 100 per cent fit today, but his game is there. I’m sure he’ll be holding many trophies in the future.”
