Novak Djokovic Nets 9th Australian Open Crown for 18th Major Title
(February 21, 2021) World No. 1 Novak Djokovic now stands just two major titles behind all-time leaders Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The33-year-old from Serbia won his ninth Australian Open title and 18th overall major championship on Sunday night in Melbourne with a dominating 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the final.

For the No. 4 seed Medvedev, 25, this was his second major final, having lost to Nadal in the 2019 final of the U.S. Open. The loss snapped a 20-match winning streak he carried into the finals.
