(January 12, 2022) No. 1 Novak Djokovic was allowed to remain in Australia after having his visa revoked and being detained in an immigration detention hotel for four days. He won his legal battle to stay in Australian by a procedural error made by Australian authorities. His troubles are still far from over as he has not been vaccinated for Covid, a requirement for those visiting Australia, but still his visa been granted. Questions remain in regard to the Serbian’s timeline and actions in regard to testing positive for Covid a month ago and still participating in public events and interview without a mask. Also on his travel declaration form, he noted that he had not traveled 14 days before reaching Australian, but photos show that the 20-time major champion had been in Serbia and Spain. The 34th-year-old posted a statement on his social media:

Djokovic’s troubles are still not over as he could still be deported. The Australian Open begins on January 17, with the draw taking place on January 13.
