Tennis Channel to Air US Davis Cup Tie Against Colombia March 4-5

TENNIS CHANNEL TO AIR U.S. DAVIS CUP TEAM’S BATTLE WITH COLOMBIA IN RENO, NEVADA, MARCH 4-5
Winner to Advance to 2022 Davis Cup Finals

LOS ANGELES, March 2, 2022 –Tennis Channel will have live coverage of the U.S. Davis Cup team’s qualifying competition with Colombia in Reno, Nevada, March 4-5. All five matches of the two-day event will appear on the network and its streaming service Tennis Channel Plus, beginning Friday, March 4, at 7 p.m. ET. The winning country will advance to the Davis Cup Finals November 23-27.

The competition will feature two singles matches Friday, March 4, starting at 7 p.m. ET, followed by a doubles and two singles matches Saturday, March 5, underway at 4 p.m. ET. The event takes place at the Reno Events Center, just the second time that the United States has hosted a Davis Cup event in Nevada.

Announcer Noah Eagle (@NoahEagle15) will be in Reno for Tennis Channel during the event, joined by former player and network analyst Mark Knowles (@knowlzee10s). Knowles represented the Bahamas 29 times in Davis Cup play from 1989-2008.

The United States has won 32 Davis Cup titles, more than any other nation, with its most recent in 2007.

This weekend’s squad consists of Taylor Fritz, Jack Sock, Rajeev Ram, Tommy Paul and Sebastian Korda. Fritz is currently ranked No. 20 in singles and comes into the young 2022 season riding the momentum of a strong finish in 2021. Sock has won doubles and mixed-doubles titles on the largest stages in tennis, including Wimbledon, the US Open and the Olympics. Ram has a similar doubles and mixed-doubles pedigree, collecting major championships and medaling at the Olympics in 2016. Paul has steadily risen in the rankings and is currently the No. 39 singles player in the world, a career high.

The U.S. team is captained by Mardy Fish, who represented the Stars and Stripes 11 times as a player. Against Colombia in 2010, he won both singles matches and shared in the doubles win to give the Americans all three competition-deciding victories. Spread across three days, each contest was a grueling, tight battle, reaching the fifth set in singles and the fourth in doubles.
