
(September 23, 2022) Roger Federer’s career has come to an end. Representing Team Europe, the 41-year-old Swiss, winner of 20 majors lost with Rafael Nadal in doubles in the night session of Laver Cup on Friday. The doubles team of Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe gave Team World the win by a score of 4-6, 7-6 (2), 11-9. The win levels the Laver Cup at 2-2 at the end day one. Team Europe had singles wins from Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas for their two points, while Team World’s Alex DeMinaur with his win over Andy Murray accounted for the other point.
It was an emotional night for Federer who spoke to the crowd after the loss in his final match.
“It’s been a perfect journey,” Federer said. “I would do it all over again.”
