
(July 11, 2026) In an all-Czech battle, 21-year-old No. 9 seed Linda Noskova defeated No. 10 seed Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 for her first Wimbledon title and her first major win. in her first-ever major final, in just her fourth main-draw appearance. She served for the match at 5-3 in the second set but wasted several match points before Muchova rallied from 2-5 down to force a decider.
“Winning it this way, really having to fight for it, having all these ups and downs, it matters a lot,” said Noskova. “I have to learn a lot from this match.”
She saved a match point in the third round against Sorana Cirstea.
She’s the youngest to reach the final since 2014 when Eugenie Bouchard of Canada reached the final. She’s the youngest to win the final since her countrywoman Petra Kvitova won in 2011.
“I am so glad that I could play my first Grand Slam final with you,” Noskova said to Muchova during her winner’s speech. “We made history today. All our Czech fans at home are proud of us no matter the result. It was a good day for both of us.”
“You’re so young and this was your first final of a Grand Slam and the way you handled it … was really unbelievable. … You deserve it,” said Muchova.
Noskova is now 12-1 this year on grass courts this year.
For three of the past four years, Czech women have captured the Wimbledon title – Barbora Krejcikova in 2024 and Marketa Vondrousova in 2023.
