SAN DIEGO – (August 3, 2026) – Men’s professional tennis is returning to San Diego as Youth Tennis San Diego announced that an ATP 75 Challenger level tennis tournament will be played Sunday, September 20 through Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Barnes Tennis Center, 4490 W Point Loma Blvd, San Diego, CA 92107.
The tournament is part of the ATP Challenger Tour, an official international tennis circuit which consists of more than 200 tournaments around the world. The event will feature a strong field of up-and-coming professional tennis players who will compete for $107,000 in prize money and ATP ranking points. The singles champion will be awarded 75 ATP points and $17,000.
This year’s ATP 75 Challenger will have a 24-player qualifying singles draw, a 32-player singles main draw and a 16-team doubles main draw. Qualifying matches will begin Sunday, September 20 and main draw matches will start Monday, September 21. The singles championship and doubles final are slated for Sunday, September 27.
Barnes Tennis Center / Youth Tennis San Diego Chief Executive Officer Ryan Redondo, and Chris Boyer will serve as co-tournament directors, along with Bruce Kleege as Tournament Chairman.
The tournament represents another event in YTSD’s “Serving the Future Series,” which includes the return of the ATP 100 Challenger and the World Tennis (formerly ITF) W100 event scheduled to be played at Barnes Tennis Center in late January, 2027. YTSD also hosted ATP Tour 250 tournaments in 2021-2022 and WTA Tour 500 tournaments in 2022-2024.
“We host professional tennis because of our kids. When a young player walks through the gates at Barnes Tennis Center and watches world-class athletes compete, something changes. Professional tennis becomes real. It becomes attainable. Every professional athlete was once a child who watched someone they wanted to become, and these tournaments give our young players that same opportunity to dream,” Redondo said.
“That inspiration is only the beginning. From our YTSD introductory programs through the Kathy Chabot Willette After School Tennis Program and Steve Adamson Tennis Academy, and into national and professional competition, we’ve built a complete pathway for player development,” Redondo added. “Today, we’re seeing athletes who grew up in our programs competing in the very professional tournaments we’re hosting. That’s incredibly meaningful because it demonstrates that the pathway works.”
Tickets for the ATP 75 Challenger will go on sale the second week of August. For additional information, go to: www.barnestenniscenter.com
